SXM Doet
SXM DOET forms part of the largest volunteer initiative of the Dutch Kingdom, an initiative initiated by the Oranje Fonds in collaboration with Samenwerkende Fondsen and the Be The Change Foundation. The ‘DOET’ initiative started in the Netherlands in 2004 and later expanded to St. Maarten with “SXM DOET” in 2015.
The goal of the initiative is to ensure that locally existing organizations successfully execute a project, which benefits themselves, and in turn the community, spanning two days. SXM DOET is on a mission to help improve the general idea of volunteering and community service by showing how fun and creative it can really be. Together, the community and the NGO’s create a better and brighter future for St Maarten as a whole.
K1 has participated in the SXM DOET every year from its inception with a full range of activities such as sports days for foster children, repair projects, beautification projects, and more.
These activities are a great way to encourage volunteerism – showing how easy it can be and how impactful it really is.
The K1 Britannia Foundation understands the importance of volunteerism in building and growing a nation and as such endorses the SXM DOET initiative.
